listening to your poems
rests a smile on my face
the lines remind me of
lovers in movies
where one moment stops
so the heart breaths awhile
familiar line speaks
of matters only hearts
understand
I may no longer endure
to wait for the sunrise
all I know my head
shall rest in your arms
to celebrate the cold windy night
door slams to and fro
in protest
for the winds from the sea
carry with it their temper
that ignites the lovers’ desire
who shall seek the company
of our soft lips
and hold you closer
so you may chase away the cold
and in my sleep I will dream of
no one else
sweet tongues
like yours
are rare
if only you existed in my time
if only you crossed the country
of my birth
